EASY EMDR for Anxious Mothers
The comprehensive international picture of the mental health of Mothers with children or adolescents aged 5 to 17 years shows a fast growing prevalence of mental health problems, with an ever-increasing impact of those problems on families, parents, and young people themselves and the role of health services in providing assistance.
The rates for depression in young mothers (not necessarily new mothers), self-harm and thoughts about suicide are very common, as some mothers particularly feel too ashamed to admit or talk about their fears and worries - unique to parenting. Rates for depression, self-harm and thoughts about suicide in adults are particularly worrying, with approximately 7% of adults reporting they have engaged in some self-harming behaviour, 20% reporting they have had suicidal thoughts, and 6.7% having actually attempted suicide.
Forecasts predict approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. In the UK approximately 1 in 4 adults have experienced a mental disorder in the past year. In England the figure is 1 in 6, it is higher for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This is consistent across many international studies. When we compare the United Kingdom to the United States of America approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. a staggering 43.8 million, or 18.5% experience mental illness in a given year. Mothers with children are often at the top of this list.
This is an important signal to all families who are faced with the challenging task of helping Mothers navigate the transition from partner or wife into parenthood.
The very good news is that EMDR is a highly effective treatment for anyone who wants to take more responsibility for their themselves, partner and children, because they have perhaps been let down by local mental health services. Now you can do so in the safety of your own home, and perhaps with the help of setting small trusted groups over coffee, finally and in confidence you will be able to take back control of your life.
By making EMDR available for home use we have responsibly taken away the reliance on physicians and demystified the treatment right here for you, to learn in very simple quick easy steps, giving the power back to the everyday people, to help change how people around the world treat mental health at home and in their communities.
It doesn’t necessarily remove the need or role of therapists in the treatment of very complex anxiety and complex associated disorders, but for those who cannot afford such help or have little or no access to EMDR, this simple book can change and even save lives - in just 4 easy steps you can be free from anxiety rapidly and effectively.
